YOURLS is a small set of PHP scripts that will allow you to run your own URL shortening service (a la TinyURL). You can make it private or public, you can pick custom keyword URLs, it comes with its own API. You will love it.

Very simple but nice and powerful, easy peasy!
It is a pleasure to say YOURLS works as advertised. I have installed it on several sites with the SQLITE setup. I have been using it for multiple years now.

I love it and it actually works pretty well!
I have used this script nearly two years, as of this writing, and have always had excellent results. YOURLS, in conjunction with the available add-ons, runs very smoothly. And allows for social media sharing of your shortened links directly from the admin panel. This script also integrates with Twitter as your own app through the api. I am very pleased with the achieved results of having my own personal custom YOURLS!
I searched all over for a way to track not only hits, but where they came from and here it was sitting right under my nose. It works great! One problem I found after several hours, is if you get an access error you need to set permissions of the htaccess file in your subdirectory you installed this in to 644
